Caring for your Keratin Smoothing Treatment

Human hair naturally has keratin protein but after pollution, heating elements and sulfates from shampoos, your natural keratin gets stripped from your hair.  The keratin treatment is derived from lamb's wool, which is the closest to human keratin that they have found.  It is very important to follow these rules for 72 hours when you are home to properly care for your keratin.

  • DO NOT GET ANY MOISTURE ON YOUR HAIR FOR 72 HOURS
  • WEAR A SHOWER CAP WHILE IN THE SHOWER, WASHING YOUR FACE OR WHILE DOING ANYTHING AT ALL THAT INVOLVES WATER FOR 72 HOURS
  • WEAR HAIR DOWN, DO NOT USE PINS, CLIPS, PONYTAIL HOLDERS OR SUNGLASSES TO HOLD HAIR BACK FOR 72 HOURS
  • WITHIN THE 72 HOURS, IF HAIR GETS WET, BLOW DRY IMMEDIATELY AND GO OVER LIGHTLY WITH A FLAT IRON ON LOW HEAT SETTING
  • USE THE SULFATE AND SODIUM CHLORIDE FREE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER SUGGESTED BY YOUR STYLIST

WHEN SWIMMING IN CHLORINE, BEFORE YOU GET IN, WET YOUR HAIR AND APPLY CONDITIONER. WASH HAIR IMMEDIATELY AFTER SWIMMING.  TRY TO AVOID SALT WATER IN YOUR HAIR BECAUSE IT COUNTERACTS THE KERATIN TREATMENT.  WEARING A SWIM CAP IS FAVORED.

The Right Way to Go From Dark to Light Hair

Thinking About Going Lighter? Here’s What You Should Know.

Ever had the urge to take your dark locks lighter? You’re not alone—we get it! But truthfully, the transformation isn’t as quick or simple as it might seem.

Many people assume lightening dark hair is easy because we tend to notice only the end results—those dramatic before-and-afters. What you don’t see is the behind-the-scenes process, which can take hours and often multiple sessions in your colorist’s chair. The good news? Yes, you can go from dark to light—but it requires patience and a serious commitment to the process.

If your hair is virgin (never colored), it still involves a lot of work. Going slow is key—pushing too fast can lead to breakage and damage. On average, it takes about three to four appointments before seeing a major transformation. The golden rule? The more dramatic the change, the more stress on your hair—and rushing that change increases the risk of damage.

If your hair is already colored, the journey becomes even more complex. Lightening previously dyed hair means navigating uncharted territory—your colorist must account for how your hair will react and prioritize its health at every step. There’s real science behind hair color, and once the integrity of your hair is compromised, breakage becomes a serious risk. That’s why many professionals incorporate bond-repairing treatments like Olaplex to help maintain the hair’s strength and pH balance.

So if you’re dreaming of going lighter, just remember: it can be done—it just takes time, care, and a little bit of trust in the process.

Patience is everything!
